Cigar smoking isn’t for everyone. I am not trying to convince anyone to smoke cigars. I do, however, think that cigar smokers are often misunderstood and cigar smoking in general has a very bad stigma. Cigar smoking, in moderation can be beneficial. If stress is the number one killer, and cigar smoking generally lowers your stress level, you cannot discount that there are some benefits for cigar smoking. Here are excerpts from two articles:
The act of smoking fine cigars is good for you—good for the mind, good for the soul, and an absolute benefit to the human condition. A good cigar is a best friend in your moments of reflection, a calming influence when the brain is frenzied, and a stimulating boost when your battery has run low. In the words of British Baptist preacher Charles H. Spurgeon, a highly influential Christian leader in Great Britain during the mid 1800s, “When I have found intense pain relieved, a weary brain soothed, and calm refreshing sleep obtained by a cigar, I have felt grateful to God, and have blessed His Name.”
… but the old rule about enjoying everything in moderation seems to apply. If you smoke less than one cigar per day, then that makes you an occasional cigar smoker. According to cancer.org, “The health risks linked to occasional cigar smoking are not known”.
In most cases, people already have an opinion on this subject. I am not here to convince anyone of anything and this post is not to start any debates. I am just letting you know that we enjoy cigars and it makes us happy and less stressed out. We believe that this adds to our mental health; which in turn, helps us with our physical health. We do not believe that it is a bad thing to enjoy cigars.
